 Neosho pro­motes Schoonover

  NEOSHO — Neosho ele­vated assis­tant Jared Schoonover to become its new head foot­ball coach on Tues­day.
  Schoonover replaces Shawn Flan­ni­gan, who is bound for Rogers (Ark.). Schoonover han­dled the play-calling duties for a Wild­cats offense last sea­son that aver­aged 38 points a night.
  Schoonover pre­vi­ously coached five years at Ben­tonville (Ark.).
  Neosho has won back-to-back dis­trict championships.

Mis­souri South­ern State reels in four COC recruits

  JOPLIIN — Webb City’s Brax­ton Baker and Bart Starkey and Neosho’s Matt Bridges and Addi­son Rain­wa­ter will next be team­mates.
  They all signed let­ters of intent ear­lier this week to con­tinue their grid­iron careers at Mis­souri South­ern State. Baker is a run­ning back, Bridges a cen­ter and Rain­wa­ter and Starkey are line­back­ers.
  Also, Webb City defen­sive back Boo Rodgers signed with South­ern Illinois-Carbondale.

Nixa’s Keeney among those to sign let­ters of intent

  Nixa’s Jor­dan Keeney will con­tinue his foot­ball career at Cen­tral Mis­souri State, after sign­ing a let­ter of intent with the Mules.
  Keeney, the Cen­tral Ozark Con­fer­ence Large Schools Divi­sion Offen­sive Player of the Year last fall, is expected to stay at run­ning back for Cen­tral Mis­souri State.
  The Eagles’ Skyler Brown, an offen­sive line­man, signed with Ottawa (Kan.).
  Ozark’s Tom Ligion signed with Arkansas State’s track team and hopes to com­pete in the decathalon.
  The Tigers’ Keaton Pat­ter­son, a line­backer, signed to play foot­ball at South­west Bap­tist.
  Carthage’s Trevor Hole signed with Evan­gel and plans to play foot­ball and com­pete in track.

Knob Noster’s Phillips to join Pirates

  BRAN­SON — Bran­son has hired Knob Nos­ter head foot­ball coach Ed Phillips as an assis­tant coach and weight train­ing teacher.
  Phillips, a Buf­falo grad, pre­vi­ously coached at Lock­wood. He replaces Ron Mar­tin, who resigned after 24 sea­sons with the Pirates.
  “Ed pos­sesses the kind of char­ac­ter that is going to make him a great fit in the Bran­son com­mu­nity and the Bran­son school dis­trict,” ath­letic direc­tor Tony Berry said.
